HJT

HJT (Heterojunction) combines crystalline silicon wafers with amorphous silicon layers on both sides, achieving cell efficiencies of 25-26%+ and some of the best performance-per-degree ratios in the industry (temperature coefficient -0.24 to -0.26%/°C). Major producers include a Tier-1 HJT manufacturer, a Tier-1 HJT manufacturer Energy, and a European premium manufacturer. HJT modules command a premium over TOPCon, with the gap narrowing quarter-by-quarter as HJT output scales (the 2024 premium was roughly double what it is in Q1 2026). Best use cases: hot climates, high-yield utility projects, premium residential. Limitations: higher silver paste consumption (cost pressure), more complex manufacturing.
